Downloading the Latest Version

BusiPro is regularly updated with new features and bug fixes. The new .exe file is then uploaded onto the Bitwise Systems Ltd website which can be downloaded onto your server to replace the old version of BusiPro. It is highly recommended that regular updates are done to make sure you have the most up-to-date features.

Workstations, servers and operating systems tend to be set up differently by each company IT department to work in a specific way, so the actual details that you see on screen may vary from those described below. However, these instructions should act as a good guideline for you to download the BusiPro update, install it onto your server, and from there, onto the workstations.

Manual Upload and unzip

  • Click on the BusiPro Main.
  • Choose ‘Open file from current location' and click OK.
  • After the file has been transferred, the zip software will open.
  • Select the 'bwsm8.exe' file by clicking on it once and click on the 'Extract' button.
  • Choose the 'BusiPro8\CopyToC' folder on your server (not on your c:drive as this will only update your own machine). Make sure the overwriting previous file option is selected.
  • Once the file has been extracted the latest update of BusiPro is now installed on your server. An update from this version now needs to be done on individual machines by clicking on the update icon on the desktop.

*If you do not have a CopyToC folder, contact your system administrator.

If you have the automatic install and unzip software

  • Go to the BusiPro website >www.busipro.info/downloads Click on the first option in the list, the one called "BusiPro Main Executable”. This will download to your machine a file called "bwsm8.zip.
  • Next, make sure that you are the only person using BusiPro. Click on this zip file, and it will reveal a file called "bwsm.exe” This is the file that you will need to copy to the folder on your on your x:\ drive . The folder it needs to go to is usually called "busipro8”. When you copy the file to the folder called 'BusiPro8\CopyToC' there will already be the old file with the same name in the folder, so you will be asked if you want to copy the new file to the folder to replace the old one. The answer is that you do want to do that. This concludes the update process on the server. For each workstation, when each user logs into BusiPro, they may briefly see updating messages.
  • Alternatively, those users which have the Update BusiPro icon on their desktop should use this to update their workstation from the server.

Checking that you are using the up-to-date version

Once you have finished downloading and installing the update, it is advisable to check that you are now using the most up-to-date version. To do this, log into BusiPro, and once there, choose the Help > About options. The version number of the program you are using shows in the line which might say, for example 'Version 8. 390/390'

If the first of the two numbers (in this example the 390/390) is the same as the second, you are using the up-to-date version. If the first number is lower than the second (for example 'Version 8. 381/390') then the process of downloading and installing the update has not been completed correctly.

What to do if you are advised you are not the only user in the system

When you are updating the software you may be advised that you are not the only user in the system. If you are sure that you are indeed the only person logged into BusiPro, the message may be appearing as a result of you or your colleagues not previously exiting from BusiPro cleanly, perhaps because a workstation crash, or power failure. This could leave BusiPro with the indication that a user is still logged in.

To overcome this, go to Parameters & Lists > Marketing Database > Main Parameters and from there, click the Accounting Parameters tab. Close to the foot of the screen, you will see a box called 'Acc users in system' and you can clear the number in this box using the 'clear' button next to it.
